Awesome guest post by Kara Anderson of Family Vacation Travel!
Until recently, I had no idea what a travel agent did and I was certain I could not afford one. I was trying to plan a vacation on a budget and adding one more thing would just push us over the top. As I was pricing things out for the fifth hour, going back and forth from each site to be sure I got the best deal, I decided to Google the cost of an agent. What I found was surprising and I as disappointed that I’d wasted all that time for all these years doing it myself.
WHAT IS A TRAVEL AGENT? A travel agent books travel for customers/clients and is paid a commission on the booking by suppliers. For bookings that suppliers do not pay a commission on, a travel agent also can charge the client a service fee if the company does not offer a commission. In many cases, the travel agent can get a better price, suggest activities to do, be available while on vacation in case of a glitch (such as the Carnival events) and can create a memorable itinerary based on the lifestyle and age groups of the travelers. In most cases it costs the customer nothing to use the travel agent and it gives clients a real life person to talk to who can plan, research and book all types of travel. A travel agent will save a client valuable time and money by utilizing the various agent-only sites. Imagine being on a flight that is delayed; having a personal travel agent gives you a backup plan wit in minutes to be sure that you arrive in a timely manner to start enjoying your vacation or be on time for a business meeting.
As I was dreaming up all the ways I wanted my company to be different, I decided that we would give back 50% to all non-profits that sent their clients, parishioners and supporters to us. I know that it is only by the grace of God that I am able to wake up every day and I know that there are so many organizations looking to raise money for awareness for what they are passionate about. This is a way to help and hopefully be a value to many families wanting to save time and money when researching, planning and booking their trips.
I can help you plan a vacation, whether it is a simple stay around the corner or a grand overseas flight, hotel and cruise all in one. I have become a specialist for Hyatt, Hilton, Wyndham, Omni, Holiday Inn, Sea World, Disney Parks, Universal Studios, LEGOLAND, all cruise lines from river or ocean travel such as Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Disney, Azmara, Princess, Hawaiian Specialist, Las Vegas, New York City, Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, Atlantis, Colorado, Delta, Southwest Vacations, United Vacation, Gogo Vacations, Pleasant Holidays, Fun jet, Sandals, Beaches, Dreams Resorts and so many more. If you think it, we can plan it and book it at the best price available.
I have been asked so many times in the last month if travel agents can get and book the same special rate an individual can get such as military, AAA, AARP, rewards travel and many others. The answer is YES, and many times, even better. Occasionally these rates do not offer a commission and some travel agents charge a fee for their time but we never do. The reason you have a personal travel agent for all your travel is for peace of mind knowing that you have support from a professional who wants to be sure that you have the most memorable vacation and who will be there every step of the way. Plus, I can help you no matter where you live and what your budget is. Just try me!
